Welcome to my new website.
In September, 2008, after many months of planning and grant applications to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, a team of 73 Rotarians and non-Rotarians set off for Nairobi, Kenya, led by Sally Platt, RN, and Connie Sparks, District Governor Elect of Rotary District 7390, Pennsylvania. This was the largest medical mission ever mounted by Rotary. Its goal was to provide services to orphans and vulnerable children.
In the form of journals and blogs you can read the story and in the slideshows you will see the team in action.
UPDATE December 29, 2008
As a direct result of the healthcare that we delivered to around 12,000 children and their mothers, the demand on local charity clinics has fallen by 50% in the Mukuru slum community.
This gives them some breathing space and the ability to make better use of their limited resources and to devote more care to those who need it most. A great and entirely unexpected result!
